Con la prima prova degli Internazionali d’Italia Motocross EICMA è ufficialmente iniziata la stagione 2026 del Beta MRT Racing Team.
Lo spettacolare scenario del circuito del Lazzaretto, sopra la famosa spiaggia delle Bombarde (Alghero, Sardegna), si è rivelato difficile e impegnativo mettendo a dura prova piloti e moto. Con Rick Elzinga costretto a fermarsi per infortunio, è toccato al solo Jago Geerts (Beta RX 450) difendere i colori del Team nella classe MX1.

Settimo al termine delle prove cronometrate, il pilota belga nella prima manche è scattato a ridosso delle top ten e ha tagliato il traguardo in ottava posizione. Più travagliata la seconda dove è rimasto coinvolto in una caduta in partenza ed è ripartito tra gli ultimi. Jago ha dimostrato di aver già trovato un ottimo feeling con la moto riuscendo a terminare la gara in decima posizione. Grazie ai piazzamenti ottenuti, Geerts ha chiuso la giornata al settimo posto e occupa la medesima posizione nella Classifica di Campionato.
“Sono contento di come ho guidato oggi. Nella prima manche si sono induriti gli avambracci mentre nella seconda a livello fisico è andato tutto bene. Purtroppo, sono caduto in partenza ma il mio passo era buono e ho recuperato fino alla decima posizione finale. L’esordio è andato molto bene e non vedo l’ora di tornare in pista domenica prossima a Mantova.”

Debutto nella classe MX2 in sella alla Beta RX 250 2t per Alexis Fueri e Brando Rispoli. Il pilota francese ha iniziato la giornata di gare segnando il dodicesimo tempo in prova nel suo gruppo. In gara uno, nonostante una caduta rimediata subito dopo il via, Alexis ha rimontato fino al ventitreesimo posto. Nella seconda, dopo una partenza a ridosso dei primi, ha chiuso all’ottavo posto centrando un incoraggiante dodicesimo posto nell’assoluta di giornata.
“La giornata non è iniziato al meglio e in prova ho chiuso solo dodicesimo. – commenta Alexis – In gara uno, malgrado scattassi dall’esterno, sono riuscito a partire bene. Alla seconda curva però sono finito fuori pista e ho perso tempo ad uscire dal fango. Ho spinto al massimo ma non sono riuscito a fare meglio del ventitreesimo posto all’arrivo. Nella seconda sono scattato ancora bene e grazie a un ottimo passo ho finito ottavo. Un buon piazzamento, ma sento che possiamo fare meglio. Non vedo l’ora di tornare a lavorare con i ragazzi del team.”
Sedicesimo nel suo gruppo di prove cronometrate, Brando Rispoli è stato costretto a scegliere un cancelletto defilato in partenza e ha terminato le due manche al quindicesimo e diciannovesimo posto. Otto i punti guadagnati dal pilota toscano a fine giornata che gli hanno permesso di finire diciassettesimo assoluto.
“Tutto sommato la mia gara è andata bene. – ha commentato Rispoli – Il feeling con la moto continua a migliorare e sappiamo dove lavorare per crescere ancora. Purtroppo, ho pagato il cattivo piazzamento nelle cronometrate che non mi ha aiutato nelle partenze. Ora il focus è tutto sulla gara di Mantova.”
Il prossimo fine settimana il Beta MRT Racing Team scenderà in pista a Mantova per il secondo e ultimo round dell’edizione 2026 degli Internazionale d’Italia Motocross EICMA.

The first round of the Italian Motocross Championships at EICMA has officially kicked off the 2026 season for the Beta MRT Racing Team.
The stunning scenery of the Lazzaretto track, just above the popular Bombarde beach (Alghero, Sardinia), proved to be tough and demanding, putting both riders and bikes to the test. With Rick Elzinga forced to sit out due to his injury, it was left to Jago Geerts (Beta RX 450) alone to defend the team’s colours in the MX1 Class.
Seventh at the end of the timed trials, the Belgian rider started the first heat just behind the top ten and crossed the finish line in eighth position. The second heat was more troubled, as he was involved in a crash at the start and restarted among the last riders. Jago showed that he has already developed an excellent feeling with the bike, managing to finish the race in tenth position. Thanks to his results, Geerts finished the day seventh overall and holds the same position in the Championship Standings.
“I’m happy with how I rode today. In the first race, my arms got stiff, but in the second race, everything went well physically. Unfortunately, I crashed at the start, but my pace was good and I recovered to finish tenth overall. The start went very well and I can’t wait to get back on track next Sunday in Mantova.” -These were Jago’s words at the end of his debut with Beta.
Alexis Fueri and Brando Rispoli made their MX2 Class debut on the Beta RX 250 2T. The French rider started the day’s racing by setting the twelfth fastest time in practice in his group. In race one, despite a crash immediately after the start, Alexis fought back to finish twenty-third. In the second race, after a start close to the leaders, he finished eighth, achieving an encouraging twelfth position in the overall standings for the day.
“The day didn’t start well and I only finished twelfth in practice. – said Alexis – In race one, despite starting from the outside, I managed to get off to a good start. However, at the second corner, I ran off the track and lost time getting out of the mud. I pushed as hard as I could but couldn’t do better than twenty-third. In the second race, I started well again and thanks to an excellent pace, I finished eighth. A good result, but I feel we can do better. I can’t wait to get back to work with the team.”
Sixteenth in his timed practice group, Brando Rispoli was forced to choose a back row starting gate and finished the two races in fifteenth and nineteenth positions.
The Italian rider earned eight points at the end of the day, allowing him to finish seventeenth overall. ‘All in all, my race went well. – commented Rispoli – The feeling with the bike continues to improve and we know where we need to work to grow further. Unfortunately, I paid for my poor qualifying position, which didn’t help me at the start. Now the focus is entirely on the race in Mantua.’
Next weekend, the Beta MRT Racing Team will take to the track in Mantua, Italy, for the second and final round of the 2026 edition of the Italian Motocross EICMA International.
