A Kegums, il mondiale motocross riapre i battenti. Il Team SM Action Yamaha in evidenza con Renaux nella MX2. Buon esordio anche del norvegese Fredriksen nella EMX250. Weekend sottotono per Jacobi in MXGP.

Il secondo weekend di Agosto, segna il ritorno ufficiale del FIM Motocross World Championship dopo la lunga pausa dovuta alla pandemia da coronavirus. Il tracciato designato, è quello di Kegums, in Lettonia, dove team e piloti si fermeranno per una settimana e disputeranno tre prove con una pista che di volta in volta sarà rinnovata nel suo design.
Il Team SM Action Yamaha, è presente al via con Henry Jacobi #29 (MXGP), Maxime Renuax #959 (MX2) e il norvegese Hakon Fredriksen #427 al suo debutto nel Campionato EMX250, in sostituzione di Andrea Adamo #80, infortunatosi in allenamento.
Hakon Frederiksen all’esordio con l’SM Action Yamaha
Un bel weekend di sole ha offerto ai piloti un tracciato in condizioni ottimali ma altrettanto difficile ed insidioso; il Timetable ridotto ha permesso di svolgere entrambe le manche del Campionato EMX250 nella giornata di sabato.
Dopo un 5° ed un 7° tempo del suo gruppo nelle sessioni di libere e cronometrate, Fredriksen non centra una buona partenza in gara 1 e dopo il primo giro transita 22° sul traguardo. Nelle quindici tornate di gara però, la sua progressione verso la vetta della corsa è molto buona e sotto la bandiera a scacchi, il norvegese transita 8°. Gara 2 purtroppo, vede Fredriksen protagonista di un ritiro nel corso del primo giro di gara. Il suo weekend d’esordio nel Campionato EMX250 termina con un 13° posto in classifica di giornata.
Nella classe MX2, Maxime Renaux chiude le prove libere con un 12° tempo, per poi migliorarsi in qualifica e centrare il 9° tempo. Domenica, in entrambe le manche, il francese accusa dei crampi alle gambe, che gli impediscono di guidare al 100%.
Nonostante ciò, in gara 1, lo spunto in partenza è buono e la Yamaha #959 è subito all’interno della ‘top 10’. Per tutta la durata della corsa, Maxime duella ai margini della ‘top 5’ dimostrando una buona velocità. La sua prima frazione di gara si chiude con un meritato 7° posto. La seconda manche di Maxime è praticamente la fotocopia della precedente, per quanto riguarda la prima metà di gara. A seguito di una buona partenza, il portacolori del Team SM Action Yamaha duella appena fuori dalla ‘top 5’ ma nella seconda metà della corsa il suo ritmo cala leggermente sempre a causa dei crampi, cede alcune posizioni e conclude 10°. La sua giornata si conclude con un 7° posto, che lo colloca 4° in classifica generale.
Henry Jacobi nella classe MXGP a Kegums
Nella classe regina, Henry Jacobi non è proprio a suo agio sull’insidioso fondo lettone e dopo un 31° tempo nelle libere, non va oltre il 24° tempo nelle cronometrate. Domenica, in gara 1, la prestazione del tedesco non differisce molto da quella messa in atto nella giornata precedente. Fuori dalla ‘top 20’ al termine del primo giro, Henry riesce ad affacciarsi in 20a posizione nel corso del 7° giro ma una piccola sbavatura lo arretrata nuovamente. La sua prima manche si conclude con un 24° posto. In gara 2 invece, la partenza di Henry è nettamente migliore e dopo una prima metà di gara condotta a ridosso della ‘top 10′, il tedesco cala il suo ritmo arretrando di alcune posizioni. Sedicesimo sul traguardo, risulta 18° in classifica di giornata e 17° in classifica generale.
Appuntamento infrasettimanale per il quarto round del FIM Motocross World Championship con il GP of Riga, che si terrà nelle due giornate dell’ 11 e 12 agosto.
Maxime Renaux #959: “Oggi ho fatto più fatica del solito sia nel mettere a punto la moto, visto il timetable ridotto, sia fisicamente. Ho ottenuto un 7° posto a fine giornata ma non sono soddisfatto. So di poter fare meglio e che posso puntare più in alto perciò spero di recuperare velocemente in vista della prossima gara. Ciao e grazie.”

At Kegums, the Motocross World Championship has restarted. Team SM Action Yamaha shined in the MX2. Good debut for the Norwegian Fredricksen in EMX250 too. Weekend under the expectations for Jacobi in MXGP.
The second weekend of August marked the official return of the FIM Motocross World Championship after a long break due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The designed circuit was Kegums, in Latvia, where teams and riders will stop for one week to race in three rounds. The layout of the track will be redesigned for each round.
Team SM Action Yamaha line up was: Henry Jacobi #29 (MXGP), Maxime Renuax #959 (MX2) and the Norwegian Hakon Fredriksen #427, who made his debut in the EMX250 Championship to substitute Andrea Adamo #80 who got injured during training.
A sunny weekend offered the riders an excellent track surface, which was also difficult and insidious; the reduced timetable allowed to race both races of the EMX250 Championship on Saturday.
After a 5th and a 7th fastest lap time in his group during Free Practice and Timed Practice, Fredriksen did not make a good start in Race 1 and after lap 1 he was in 22nd place. During the 15 laps of the race, though, his progression was really good and at the checkered flag he was in 8th place. In Race 2, unfortunately, Fredriksen had to retire during the first lap. His debut in the EMX250 Championship ended with the overall 13th position.
In the MX2, Maxime Renaux finished free practice in 12th place, but then he improved in Qualifying and he signed the 9th fastest lap time. On Sunday, in both races, the French suffered cramps at his legs, so he could not ride at his best conditions. Despite of that, though, in Race 1 he had a good start and his Yamaha #959 was straight away in the Top 10. For the whole race length, Maxime dueled around the Top 5 and he showed some speed. His first race finished with a well deserved 7th place. The first half of Race 2, for Maxime, was basically the copy of Race 1. After a good start, Team SM Action Yamaha rider was just outside the Top 5. Then his pace lowered a little due to the cramps, so he had to give up a few places and he finished 10th. His day ended with the 7th place overall, a result that put him in 4th place in the General Classification.
In the Top Class Henry Jacobi did not feel comfortable due to the insidious surface of the track. After the 34th fastest lap time in Free Practice he improved a little in Timed Practice, where he finished in 24th place. On Sunday, in Race 1, the German’s performance did not seem to improve from the day before. After lap 1 Henry was out of the Top 20 and he stayed out of that for the whole race, except for lap 7, when he was 20th. His race finished with the 24th position. In Race 2 Henry’s start was a lot better and after the first half of the race, when he was close to the Top 10, the German slowed down a little and he moved back a few places so he finished 16th. His weekend ended with the 18th place overall and the 17th in the General Classification.
In the middle of this week there will be round 4 of the FIM Motocross World Championship with the GP of Riga, which will take place on the 11th and the 12th of August.
Maxime Renaux #959: “Today I struggled more than usual to set up my motorbike, due to the reduced timetable, and physically too. I gained the 7th place overall but I’m not satisfied. I know I can do better and I can aim higher so I hope I will recover fast for the next race”.
