Nel GP di Riga, Fredriksen terzo in gara 2, sfiora il podio della EMX250. Nella MX2, Renaux è quinto a fine giornata. In MXGP, due manche opache per Jacobi che termina fuori dalla zona punti.

Dopo appena due giorni dal GP di riapertura della stagione 2020, il motocross mondiale torna nuovamente in pista con il GP di Riga, secondo appuntamento del ‘tris’ di gare che si terranno sul tracciato lettone di Kegums. Così come nel precedente round, a far da cornice alle classi mondiali anche i ragazzi del Campionato EMX250, al loro terzo appuntamento stagionale.
Henry Jacobi #29 nella classe MXGP, Maxime Renuax #959 nella classe MX2 e il norvegese Hakon Fredriksen #427 nel Campionato EMX250 sono i portacolori del Team SM Action Yamaha.
La due giorni di gare comincia il martedì con i ragazzi del Campionato EMX250 che disputano la loro gara. Dopo le buone prestazioni messe in campo nel precedente round, Fredriksen ribadisce subito la sua velocità in sella alla Yamaha YZ-F250 del team emiliano. Dopo un 4° posto nelle libere, Hakon chiude le prove cronometrate con un buon 10° posto.
Nella prima frazione di gara la partenza del norvegese è pessima , dopo il 1° giro si ritrova in fondo al gruppo ma la sua rimonta ha del sensazionale e al termine delle quindici tornate, transita 10° sul traguardo.
Nella seconda frazione, Hakon non sbaglia la partenza e dopo aver condotto una gara tutta in attacco, conquista un superlativo 3° posto che in classifica di giornata lo colloca in 4a posizione. Una grande prova di carattere quella del norvegese che in classifica di campionato, si posiziona 13°.
Maxime Renaux 5° assoluto nel GP di Riga
Nella classe MX2, nelle due sessioni di prove libere e cronometrate, Maxime non è veloce come al suo solito e si aggiudica il 16° cancelletto sullo schieramento di partenza.
Nelle due manche di gara invece, Renaux mette in campo due solide prestazioni e a seguito di due buone partenze, conclude gara 1 in 7a piazza e gara 2 in 5a piazza. In classifica di giornata, conquista la 5a posizione mentre in classifica generale, è stabile in 4a piazza e in piena corsa per la ‘top 3’ della serie più prestigiosa per la quarto di litro.
Henry Jacobi in difficoltà nella classe MXGP
Henry Jacobi, nella classe MXGP, prova a cancellare la prova opaca del precedente round e nelle libere chiude con il 10° tempo. Nelle cronometrate però, non riesce ad andare oltre il 22° tempo ed anche in gara 1, dopo una partenza a centro gruppo non riesce ad esprimere al meglio tutto il suo potenziale. In zona punti sino all’ottavo giro, commette un errore che lo retrocede di alcune posizioni e la sua prima manche termina con zero punti, in 22a piazza.
Purtroppo anche gara 2, vede il tedesco in crisi sul morbido fondo lettone e dopo una gara poco incisiva e condotta tutta fuori dalle posizioni che contano, Henry chiude 22°. Con un poco soddisfacente 25° posto a fine giornata, la classifica di campionato ora lo vede 21°.
Nel weekend del 15 e 16 agosto, il GP di Kegums ospiterà il 5° round del FIM Motocross World Championship. Poi ci saranno tre settimane di pausa e se tutto procederà per il verso giusto, visto che la pandemia da coronavirus nel mondo è in continua evoluzione, il weekend del 5 e 6 settembre team e piloti voleranno in Turchia per il sesto round stagionale sul tracciato di Afyonkarahisar.

At GP of Riga, Fredriksen finished 3rd in Race 2 and just out of the podium in EMX250. In MX2 Renaux finished 5th overall. In MXGP Jacobi had two bitter races as he ended out of the points-area.
After only two days since the GP that reopened the 2020 season, the World Motocross went once again on track for the GP of Riga, second out of three races that will be disputed at the circuit of Kegums in Latvia. As it was for the previous round, the EMX250 Championship took place there too for the third round of the season.
Henry Jacobi #29 in the MXGP class, Maxime Renuax #959 in the MX2 and the Norwegian Hakon Fredriksen #427 in the EMX250 Championship were the line up of Team SM Action Yamaha.
The round started on Tuesday with the EMX250 Championship riders that had their race. After the good performances showed in the previous round, Fredriksen confirmed straight away his speed on his Yamaha YZ-F250 of the Team from Emilia Romagna. After the 4th fastest lap time in Free Practice, Hakon finished Timed Practice in 10th place. In Race 1 he had a terrible start, and after lap 1 he was in the back of the group, but his recovery was sensational and after 15 laps he was 10th at the finish line. In Race 2, Hakon did not repeat the mistake at the start and with an attacking pace he conquered the 3rd place, which allowed him to finish 4th in the overall. The Norwegian showed a great grit and he placed himself in 13th place in the General Classification.
In the MX2, in both Free and Timed Practice, Maxime was not as fast as usual and he went on the grid in 16th place. In both races, though, Renaux put in two solid performances after two good starts, and he finished Race 1 in 7th position and Race 2 in 5th. In the overall he finished 5th and in the General Classification he is still in 4th place, and still fighting for the Top 3 of the most prestigious Championship of the quarter of litre class.
Henry Jacobi, in the MXGP, tried to delete the bad previous round and he finished Free Practice in 10th place. In Timed Practice, though, he was not able to make it better than the 22nd position and in Race 1 too, after a start that placed him in the middle of the group, he was not able to show his potential. He stayed in the points-area until lap 8, but then he made a mistake that moved him back and his first race ended with zero points in 22nd position. Unluckily, in Race 2 too, the German was in troubles on the soft surface of the Latvian track and after a whole race disputed in the low level positions, Henry finished 22nd. With a very little satisfying 25th place in the overall, he is now in 21st place in the General Classification.
On the weekend of the 15th and 16th of August, GP of Kegums will host the 5th round of the FIM Motocross World Championship. After that there will be three weeks of break and, if everything will go the right way, as the Coronavirus pandemic is still developing around the world, on the 5th and the 6th of September the teams will fly to Turkey for the 6th seasonal round at Afyonkarahisar.
