2021 FIM Motocross World Championship – RND #011, 2021 GP of Germany, Teutschenthal
L’SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery sul podio del GP di Germania grazie al secondo posto di Horgmo nel Campionato EMX250. Gran premio positivo anche per Adamo e Forato: entrambi centrano la ‘top 20’ di giornata.
Al difficile appuntamento italiano nella profonda e soffice sabbia di Riola Sardo (OR), fa seguito il round tedesco di Teutschenthal, tracciato dal fondo duro e compatto che ospita l’undicesimo round del FIM Motocross World Championship. In occasione del GP di Germania, dopo quasi due mesi di stop, ritornano in gara anche i ragazzi del Campionato EMX250 , al loro quinto appuntamento stagionale.
L’SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery si presenta perciò in ‘full force’ con Andrea Adamo #80 (MX2), Alberto Forato #303 (MXGP) e Kevin Horgmo #24 (EMX250).
Il sabato, come da copione, è dedicato ai campionati minori che nella mattinata sono impegnati nelle prove libere e cronometrate. Su un tracciato alquanto fangoso e profondamente ‘lavorato’, Kevin fatica nelle prove libere chiudendo 7° ma nelle seguenti cronometrate, quando il tracciato comincia ad asciugarsi, il norvegese trova subito delle ottime linee e centra il 1° tempo assoluto ottenendo così il 1° posto in griglia di partenza.
Il podio della EMX250 con Kevin secondo
Nella prima manche, Kevin parte in maniera ottimale e fa subito sua la 2a piazza. Per i primi cinque giri Horgmo guida molto vicino al leader provvisorio e in più di qualche occasione cerca di sopravanzarlo. Nel corso del sesto passaggio però subisce la rimonta di un avversario e cede la sua posizione. Stabilizzatosi in 3a piazza, conclude la gara conservando la posizione. Nella seconda manche Kevin è nuovamente protagonista di un’eccellente partenza che lo colloca subito in 2a posizione. A differenza della frazione precedente, il pilota GasGas tallona più insistentemente il leader della corsa e grazie ad una serie di giri veloci, il duo distacca il resto del gruppo. Nonostante numerosi tentativi con svariati cambi di traiettoria, Horgmo non riesce nell’intento e dopo un piccolo ‘fuori pista’ dovuto alla continua ricerca di linee alternative per il sorpasso, è costretto ad accontentarsi del 2° posto. Grazie alle due belle prestazioni messe in campo, Kevin conquista il podio di giornata classificandosi 2° e rafforza anche la sua 2a piazza in campionato.
Andrea Adamo #80
La domenica mattina di Andrea comincia con un 16° tempo nelle libere seguito da un 19° nelle cronometrate. In avvio di gara 1, Adamo è autore di una buona partenza posizionandosi subito all’interno della ‘top 20’. Nelle seguenti tornate il siciliano risale sino al 12° posto per poi assestarsi sino a fine gara in 14a posizione. Gara 2, vede partire Andrea molto bene con la Gasgas #80 che transita 10a dopo il primo giro. Durante la seconda tornata però, un errore penalizza il siciliano e cedute alcune posizioni, si ritrova 17°. Le restanti tornate che lo separano dalla bandiera a scacchi, Andrea le utilizza per recuperare il maggior numero di posizioni. A fine gara, transita 14° sul traguardo. Il suo GP di Germania si conclude così con un 15° posto e quattordici punti che si vanno ad aggiungere al suo ‘paniere’ mondiale che al momento lo vede stabile in 16a piazza.
Kevin Horgmo #24
Nella classe MXGP, le libere di Alberto terminano con un 25° tempo ma nelle cronometrate il veneto trova il giusto ‘feeling’ con il difficile tracciato tedesco e centra il 14° tempo. La prima manche vede Alberto posizionarsi subito all’interno della ‘top 20’ occupando il 17° posto. Nelle restanti diciassette tornate di gara, Forato evita di commettere errori su una pista diventata alquanto insidiosa a causa dei numerosissimi canali presenti in ogni curva e rettilineo e superando tre avversari, chiude la manche con un 14° posto. Nella seconda manche Alberto non centra una buona partenza e si trova ampiamente fuori dalla ‘top 20’ ma la sua rimonta è incessante lungo tutto l’arco della gara. Esposta la bandiera a scacchi, Alberto conquista nuovamente il 14° posto e si conferma 14° di giornata. Con i punti guadagnati nella prova odierna, Alberto migliora la sua posizione in classifica di campionato e si posiziona 18°.
Adamo in azione
Senza fine settimana di riposo, il FIM Motocross World Championship prosegue il suo cammino facendo tappa in Francia dove nel weekend del 9 e 10 si gareggerà sul tracciato di Lacapelle Merival. In gara, ci saranno anche i ragazzi del Campionato EMX250 per il sesto round stagionale.
Alberto Forato #303: “E’ stata una gara positiva nonostante qualche difficoltà in qualifica, dove non sono riuscito a fare un giro perfetto. In gara 1 ho faticato ad inizio manche ma poi ho trovato il ritmo giusto. In gara 2 un contatto in partenza mi ha procurato un piccolo trauma alla dita della mano destra ed ho sofferto nel guidare nei primi giri, poi come sempre ho rimontato.”
Andrea Adamo #80: “Nella prima manche ho faticato a prendere il ritmo, ma comunque ho chiuso 14°. Nella seconda manche sono incappato in una scivolata quando ero 10°. Ho recuperato ed ho chiuso nuovamente 14°.

SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery went onto the podium with Horgmo in the EMX250 Championship. Positive Grand Prix for Adamo and Forato too: they both entered in the “top 20” Overall.
Teutschental followed the difficult Italian round on the deep and soft sand of Riola Sardo (OR, Italy) with its hard and compact surface, as it hosted the 11th round of the FIM Motocross World Championship. The GP of Germany also hosted the EMX250 Championship and all of its riders could go back to the track for their 5th round of the season.
SM Action GasGas Racing Team Yuasa Battery deployed all of its riders: Andrea Adamo #80 (MX2), Alberto Forato #303 (MXGP) and Kevin Horgmo #24 (EMX250).
Saturday, as always, was dedicated to the minor championships, which kept themselves busy with Free and Timed Practices. Kevin struggled with that muddy and rutted surface, and he made the 7th fastest lap time in Free Practice. Different performance in the following Timed Practice though, as the surface got drier and the Norwegian made the fastest lap time and gained the 1st place on the grid.
In Race 1 Kevin had an optimal start and gained P2 straight away. For the first 5 laps Horgmo was very close to the leader and he also tried to overtake him a few times. During lap 6, though, he suffered the comeback of one of his opponents, and he gave up his position. Once he was in 3rd place, he kept it and finished in that placement. In Race 2 Kevin made once again an excellent start, as he positioned in P2. Despite what happened in Race 1, the GasGas rider put pressure on the leader, and thanks to a series of fastest laps the duo took advantage from the rest of the group. Horgmo, after many tries, had an excursion out of the track, as he pushed so hard to find alternative lines for the overtake. He then had to settle for P2. Thanks to both good races, Kevin managed to jump onto the podium as he finished 2nd Overall, and he reinforced his P2 in the General Classification too.
Sunday morning, for Andrea, started with the 16th place in Free Practice, which was followed by the 19th fastest lap time in Timed Practice. At the beginning of Race 1 Adamo made a good start and entered in the “top 20” straight away. After a few laps the rider from Sicilia moved up to the 12th place but then he stabilized in P12 until the end of the race. In Race 2 Andrea had a great start, as his GasGas #80 passed in P10 after the first lap. During lap 2, though, he made a little mistake and he had to give up some places, as he was then in P17. During the remaining laps Andrea tried to gain as many places as possible, and he finished in 14th place at the checkered flag. He ranked in P15 in the Overall Classification of the GP of Germany, and he gained 14 points to confirm his 16th position in the General Classification.
In the MXGP Alberto made the 25th fastest lap time in Free Practice, but he then found the right feeling with the bike in TImed Practice and he finished in P14. In Race 1 Alberto entered in the “Top 20” straight away, occupying the 17th place, and while he tried to avoid making any more mistakes in a circuit that was deeply conditioned by ruts and mud, he managed to gain P14 after that he overtook a few riders. In Race 2 Alberto did not make a good start and he found himself out of the “top 20” straight away. He then tried to gain back places with a constant comeback attitude throughout the whole race lenght. Once the checkered flag was out, Alberto was in 14th place and he confirmed his Overall position in P14. The points gained by Alberto allowed him to improve his position in the General Classification as he is now in P18.
There won’t be a week of rest for the FIM Motocross World Championship, as it will continue its season going in France for another round, at Lacapelle Merival circuit, in the weekend of the 9th and the 10th of October. On that occasion, there will also be the riders of the EMX250 Championship for their 6th round of the season.
Alberto Forato #303: “It was a positive race despite a few issues in Qualifying, where I couldn’t make my perfect lap. In Race 1 I struggled at the beginning but then I found the right pace. In Race 2 a contact at the start brought me a little bruise on my fingers and I had problems while riding in the first laps, but then, as always, I managed to move up places.”
Andrea Adamo # 80: “In the first heat I struggled to pick up the pace, but still I finished 14th. In the second heat I crashed when I was 10th. I recovered and finished 14th again.”
