Si apre la nuova stagione di gare per l’MRT Racing Team Beta Factory!
Nel corso del fine settimana i piloti si sono trovati a gareggiare sull’impegnativo tracciato di Riola Sardo, Sardegna, per la prima tappa degli Internazionali d’Italia Motocross.
Ben Watson (Beta RX450), undicesimo nelle prove cronometrate, ha corso un’ottima prima manche chiudendo in settima posizione, nonostante un inizio complicato. Nella seconda manche una caduta alla prima curva ha costretto il pilota inglese alla rimonta, che è riuscito a terminare al settimo posto. Piazzamento che ha confermato anche nell’Assoluta di giornata.

Buona prestazione anche per il nuovo pilota del MRT Racing Team Beta Factory: Ivo Monticelli (Beta RX450) ha segnato il decimo tempo nelle cronometrate e nella prima manche è stato autore di una gran rimonta che gli ha permesso di chiudere ottavo. Nella seconda alcune cadute hanno rallentato la sua corsa ma è stato in grado di chiudere in undicesima posizione. Con il decimo posto nell’assoluta Ivo è stato anche il miglior pilota italiano.
Ben Watson: “La prima gara della stagione è alle spalle ma sono convinto che i risultati ottenuti non riflettano in pieno la mia guida. Nella prima manche ho impiegato alcuni giri a trovare il ritmo ma poi ho rimontato fino alla settima posizione. Nella seconda sono rimasto sotto la mia moto in una caduta subito dopo il via. Dopo qualche giro però mi sentivo davvero bene e ho recuperato fino al settimo posto, che ho agguantato proprio nei metri finali. Ci sono ancora alcuni punti su cui dobbiamo migliorare ma avremo sicuramente la possibilità di risolverli nelle prossime settimane.”
Ivo Monticelli, debutto stagionale promettente.
Ivo Monticelli: “Nella prima manche ho avuto alcuni problemi in partenza ma il mio ritmo era buono e, dopo una bella serie di sorpassi, ho finito ottavo. I miei tempi sul giro erano simili a quelli del gruppetto di piloti che mi precedevano. Nella seconda ho fatto fatica a trovare il feeling e alcune cadute hanno rallentato la mia corsa. Dopo tanto tempo lontano dalle competizioni sapevo che avrei fatto fatica, ma lavorando a stretto contatto con i tecnici del team sono convinto che già a Mantova saremo in grado di vedere i primi miglioramenti.”
Il secondo e ultimo appuntamento dell’edizione 2024 degli Internazionali d’Italia Motocross sarà disputato domenica prossima sul circuito “Tazio Nuvolari” di Mantova. Dopodiché avrà inizio l’MXGP 2024!

The new racing season kicks off for the MRT Racing Team Beta Factory!
Over the weekend the riders competed on the challenging track at Riola Sardo, in Sardinia Italy, for the first round of the Internazionali d’Italia Motocross.
Ben Watson (Beta RX450), 11th in timed practice, ran an excellent first heat finishing 7th, despite a tricky start. In the second heat a crash at the first corner forced the British rider to make a comeback, finishing in seventh position. A position that he also confirmed in the Absolute of the Day.
Another great performance for the new MRT Racing Team Beta Factory rider: Ivo Monticelli (Beta RX450) marked the 10th time in the time trials and in the 1st heat made a great comeback and finished 8th. In the second heat a few crashes slowed his race but he was able to finish in 11th position. Taking 10th position overall Ivo was also the best Italian rider.

Ben Watson: “The first race of the season is over but I am sure the results do not fully reflect my riding. In the first heat it took me a few laps to find my rhythm but then I recovered to seventh position. In the second heat I got stuck under my bike in a crash just after the start. After a few laps, however, I felt really good and recovered to 7th position, which I grabbed right in the final metres. There are still some points on which we have to improve, but we will definitely have a chance to sort things out in the next few weeks.”
Ivo Monticelli: “In the first heat I had some problems at the start but my rhythm was good and, after a good series of overtaking actions, I finished 8th. My lap times were similar to those of the group of riders ahead of me. In the second heat I struggled to find the feeling and some falls slowed down my race. After so long away from competition I knew I would have struggled, but working closely with the team’s technicians I am convinced that already in Mantua we will be able to see the early improvements.”
The second and final round of the 2024 edition of the Internazionali d’Italia Motocross will take place next Sunday at the “Tazio Nuvolari” track in Mantua, Italy. After which the MXGP 2024 will begin!
