TORRANCE, California (28 gennaio 2026) – In seguito a una caduta alla prima curva durante la tappa AMA Supercross di Anaheim 2 del 24 gennaio, il pilota Honda HRC Progressive Chance Hymas è in programma per sottoporsi a un intervento chirurgico venerdì 30 gennaio, per riparare il labbro glenoideo della spalla sinistra. Il recupero di Hymas è stimato in otto settimane.
Non è stata la partenza migliore da parte mia, ma stavo comunque arrivando alla prima curva in una posizione discreta», ha spiegato Hymas. «Un altro pilota è caduto e alla fine ha fatto cadere anche me. Purtroppo, quando ho allungato il braccio per attutire la caduta, l’ho messo in una posizione strana e mi sono lussato la spalla. È devastante per me, dopo tutto quello che ho dovuto affrontare per tornare in forma gara, ma per fortuna ho intorno a me un grande gruppo di persone che mi supporta al 100%. Considerate tutte le circostanze, io e il team abbiamo deciso che, nel mio migliore interesse, è riparare il labbro glenoideo questo venerdì e concentrare le mie energie sul tornare al 100% in salute e pronto per l’outdoor.
L’ancora giovanissima stagione AMA Supercross 2026 si è rivelata impegnativa per Honda HRC Progressive, dato che Jett Lawrence e Jo Shimoda sono tuttora fermi a causa di infortuni rimediati durante la pre-stagione. Hunter Lawrence ha invece ottenuto ottime prestazioni nelle prime tre prove e al momento occupa il secondo posto nella corsa al titolo.
«Questa stagione ci sta davvero mettendo alla prova», ha dichiarato Brandon Wilson, responsabile Racing e Advertising di American Honda. «Tutti in Honda siamo dispiaciuti per i nostri piloti infortunati, ma la battuta d’arresto di Chance è particolarmente dura, considerando quanto abbia lavorato e la velocità impressionante che stava mostrando all’inizio della stagione. Non si può negare che il 2026 sia stato molto difficile per il team, ma vedere Hunter correre così bene è stato certamente un aspetto positivo. TORRANCE, Calif. (January 28, 2026) – Following a first-turn fall at the January 24 Anaheim 2 AMA Supercross round, Honda HRC Progressive rider Chance Hymas is scheduled to undergo an operation on Friday, January 30, to repair the labrum in his left shoulder. Hymas’ recovery is expected to be eight weeks.
“It wasn’t the best start on my end, but I was still in a decent position coming into the first corner,” Hymas explained. “Another rider crashed, which ultimately took me down as well. Unfortunately, when I put my arm out to catch myself, I put it in a weird position and ended up dislocating my shoulder. It’s devastating on my end going through everything I went through to get back into racing shape, but fortunately I have a good group of people around me that support me 100%. All things considered, the team and I decided it’s in my best interest to get my labrum repaired this Friday and turn my focus to being 100% healthy and ready for outdoors.”
The still-young 2026 AMA Supercross series has been challenging for Honda HRC Progressive, as Jett Lawrence and Jo Shimoda are still out with injuries suffered during the pre-season. Hunter Lawrence has turned in strong performances at the first three rounds and currently sits second in the title chase. “This season has truly put us to the test,” said Brandon Wilson, Manager of Racing and Advertising at American Honda. “Everyone at Honda is disappointed for our injured riders, but Chance’s setback is really difficult, knowing how hard he has worked and the impressive speed he was showing at the start of the season. There’s no denying that 2026 has been very challenging for the team, but seeing Hunter racing so well has certainly been a bright spot. We’re confident that before long, all four riders will be healthy and battling at the front.”
